We’re excited to share that the CPUN DEI Committee will be hosting a shared read for CPUN board and committee members over the next few months! The book we will be reading together is Just Action: How to Challenge Segregation Enacted Under the Color of Law, which discusses some of the history of how housing policy has shaped our neighborhoods and gives specific examples of how other neighborhoods around the country have found ways to make their communities more welcoming and fair. Our goal is to come away from each of our discussions with some ideas that CPUN might like to try here in Central Park!

  • Get your copy of the book and start reading! We encourage used books and community booksellers (for instance, using bookshop.org or some in this list), and the book is also available through the Denver Library in print and ebook formats. It also works great as an audiobook.

  • Discussion schedule: We’ll be splitting the book into four parts, so you don’t have to read it all at once. We will meet from 6-7 PM over Zoom on the following dates:
    • July 30: Introduction & Part 1: Laying the Groundwork – 62 pp.
    • August 27: Part 2: Expanding Housing Opportunities Everywhere – 31 pp.
    • September 24: Part 3: Investing in Segregated Black Neighborhoods – 76 pp.
    • October 22: Part 4: Opening Up White Communities & Epilogue – 76 pp.
